Mami makes a return to town and trouble is brewing for the Snow White.

Let’s take a look!

As mentioned last week, Mami made a return to Nikko this week to visit Manaka and the girls. It was nice to see Mami once again, feels like we didn’t really get to know her that much before she moved away early on in the show, and even though she’s only back for one ep, it was nice to have her around again.

As expected Manaka met her at the station and the two walked to, you guessed it, the arena. As we know, Mami continued playing hockey in her new city and she’s actually on a A ranked team, the Ice Rabbits. I guess my theory about her playing for the Snow White is out the door. Still would’ve made for an exciting final few eps. We’ll get to the Snow White in a little bit.

This was also Mami’s first time meeting the one and only Yu. Of course she felt like she already knew her thanks to her conversations with Manaka, who talks very highly of Yu. While joining them for practice, we got to see a glimpse of how much Mami has improved since we last saw her. Her skating it quick and her shots are deadly accurate too. I guess that’s what it’s like playing in Championship A.

To me at least, it felt like Yu and Mami were hit it off well. I really like their interactions and they just seemed to really vibe well. Maybe their experience at playing hockey in the top end of the league has a bearing on that, but whatever the case I think if Yu and Mami were on a team together, they’d be a force to be reckoned with.

The rest of the first half of the ep follows the girls around as they catch up with Mami and just having fun around town. From eating out, going for a walk in the mountains, playing games, and soaking in the hot springs, it was a nice and relaxing way to catch up with an old friend. We did get a little bit of Mami drama into the back part of the ep, so let’s cover that before moving on to the next topic.

So while Mami plays for a high ranked team and her skills have improved greatly, it sounds like she’s not really getting a lot of ice time in games. Mami doesn’t really get into detail on this so we’re left guessing what exactly she means by that. Whatever the case, Mami feels like quitting hockey and doing something else. Between her lack of ice time and not really being close to any teammates, she’s sounding pretty lonely honestly. But after her time at practice with the Dream Monkeys, she’s resolved to get better and hopefully meet Manaka on the ice again in the future, this time in a game. While I doubt we’ll get to see that happen as the final two eps will mostly likely cover the big game, it’s still nice to see Mami has that passion for hockey deep in her.

On to the next topic now, that is the trouble brewing over in the Snow White locker room. Their quest back to Championship A is building more steam with each win. Maya once again doing all the work while the rest of the team enjoys the ride. However not everyone likes this approach and the main girl we’re following right now is Eri, the cutie redhead. Yes that detail needs to be said. So Eri seems to be the only one who doesn’t like how the Snow White are just tagging along as Maya does all the work each game. I mean a 8-4 win is still good, but they allowed 4 goals and only won because of Maya’s dominance.

To make matter worse, the teammates aren’t exactly happy when Eri brings this up too, calling her out for making such a big deal over this. In their eyes and win is a win and that’s all that matters to them. In a maybe ironic turn of events, Eri suddenly has a flashback to Yu in their locker room having pretty much the exact same conversation with the team, but back then it was Eri giving her the attitude.

So now things have come full circle and Eri is in Yu’s shoes, lecturing the team on their attitude towards playing. And as the icing on the cake, we even get to see Eri pondering the future of the team while standing on the very same bridge that Yu stood on when the left the team. Hmm, wonder what this means? And we end the ep with one more thing that gets you thinking, Eri making a phone call to Yu. I’m guessing this is regarding their upcoming game and how they’ll meet for the first time in a while, so I’m sure that’s going to be one exciting game. I think we’ve only got 2 eps left in this show, so these final eps will mostly likely be about the game against the Snow White. Really looking forward to that!

Not a super eventful ep this week but there are defiantly things to keep an eye on. It was nice to see Mami once again and it’s good to get this insight into what’s happening in the Snow White locker room as well. As mentioned there are only 2 es left so we’re in for an exciting finish to this show!

What did you think of this week’s ep? Any thoughts on how things will go for the upcoming game? Let me know in the comments below!

No preview for next time but it’s going to be either the game or prep for the game. Whatever the case, I’m excited for it!

That’s it for me. Thanks so much for reading and I’ll see you back here next time!

As always, stay safe and healthy!
