New challenges await for Kanon and Keke as they continue their school idol journey!
Let’s take a look!
We ended off last week with Kanon finally being able to sing in front of people again, something she had pretty much given up on ever doing again. But it wasn’t just because of her willpower that this happened, Keke Tang, her follow classmate and school idol fan, made that possible as well. Together the two are really starting to shake things up around the school and as expected that’s not sitting well with the likes of Ren Hazuki. Along with the student council, Ren has been placed in charge of club related activities and she’s not making it easy for Keke and Kanon to get their school idol dreams off the ground.
Ren’s main reason seems to be she doesn’t want to put the school in a bad light. I can understand that as she’s the daughter of the headmistress and has the same feelings of responsibility to her school, but at the same time her reasons didn’t really seem to hold up against Kanon’s persistent questioning. Ren seems perfectly fine with writing off Keke and Kanon before they can even show what they’re capable of, figuring they won’t be able to live up to the very high standards of music that the school is known for. Once again it’s understandable, but at the same time Ren keep falling back to this same stand, which feels like it’s weakening the more Kanon leans on her.
Things come to a boiling point when Keke and Kanon launch an all out protest against the school, demanding they be given the freedom to have a club like everyone else. It’s a bold move but the plan ultimately pays off as they win themselves a visit with Ren’s mother the headmistress, Hana Hazuki. While Headmistress Hazuki doesn’t straight up reverse the decision her daughter has made, she does give Keke and Kanon a challenge: win first place in a local school idol event and they’ll be given club status. It’s never easy for our girls.
The rest of the ep focuses on Keke and Kanon training for the school idol festival. They’ve got the singing nailed down, Keke has written some lyrics, but what they’re lacking is dancing skills. That’s where Chi-chan comes in to help. Yep we’re blessed with a lot more Chii-chan content this week as she’s along to help out the two get better at dancing. And in Keke’s case, just build up more stamina.
It’s great to see the girls putting so much effort into being school idols and by the time the ep ends, we can see just how far Keke and Kanon have come in just a short time. This also shows just how good Chii-chan is as a dance instructor. While she hasn’t officially agreed to join them on their school idol adventures, it’s only a matter of time before Chii-chan gets swept up in the school idol hype. I can’t wait to see her dancing on stage with the rest of the girls!
A very small scene that’s worth noting features Sumire Heanna as we see her walking around town enjoying a crêpe. What’s noteworthy about this scene is that she’s acting totally different than how we last saw her at school. She was very blunt with Kanon when asked to be a school idol with them, but here we see a bubbly and energetic side to her as she’s eating this crêpe. She also seems to be looking for some sort of reaction from those around her as she made a big show of saying how delicious her crêpe looked. Her plan didn’t work out this time but I’m sure this isn’t the last we see of Sumire and her mysterious plans. Also the whipped cream on her nose added to her charm. She’s so cute!
Two eps in and I’m really loving this latest entry in the Love Live! series. Unfortunately ep 3 won’t be for a few weeks as NHK will be broadcasting the Olympics so Love Live! will be getting bumped back a few weeks. Ep 3 airs on Sunday August 8th, mark that down so you don’t forget!
