Moving right along then we arrive at the Spring 2020 season. Now at this point of the year, COVID-19 had gone into full swing and we started to see delays for some anime. Some were even pushed back a whole season so that made the Spring season a pretty quiet one. Even so there still were a few shows that kept airing and made the season enjoyable to sit through as we waited for the Summer. Here are our picks for the Spring season!

Houkago Teibou Nisshi

As mentioned some shows got pushed back a whole season due to COVID-19 restrictions and this was one of those shows. But as it still began in the springtime, I’ll talk about it here instead of next week. Of course a big draw for this show was it was another Girls Club show, this time featuring girls fishing and just chilling together. I’ve never been fishing in my life and after watching this I can see the appeal of it a bit. Much like Asteroid last season, Fishing Club had a educational element to it that made it more than just watching these cute girls fishing together, you actually learned some stuff along the way and if you were interested enough you could totally continue down the fishing path and start doing it for real. And even though it’s still a show to watch for entertainment, they didn’t beat you over the head with facts about fishing and technical talk and such, it was still very much a Girls Club show and you could see that each week. The real world info was just a nice bonus. After all is said and done I really came to enjoy this anime a lot as it provided the nice chill vibes needed during s stressful time and it got my mind away from a lot of stuff going on at the time. Like many Girls Club anime, I do hope we’ll see these fishing girls again at some point in the future, but if this is the only outing we get from them, then it was a very good run indeed.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!

I find it amazing that out of all the shows I was looking forward to before they aired, that for once I was surprised that I actually enjoyed it way more than I thought. This would easily by my anime of the year too or at least up there. And while I did end up getting into Naruto and watched it all during the time this show was airing, out of all the shows I watched that season, Gundam being postponed to the summer due to COVID. Well, this is one I am glad I still managed to stick to on a weekly basis, and I really am looking forward to its second season.

While I am not a fan of the isekai genre that took anime by storm the last few years there are still some that I rather enjoy, this is one of them. This one I honestly forget at times was part of the isekai genre and that was mostly due to the comedy aspects to it. While it is a reverse harem, well, it honestly feels like there are just as many ladies after the lead as there are guys and each one wants the lead as much as the other certainly makes it interesting. All while the main lead and her single brain cell is believing she is screwing everything up more and more that will lead to her death and everyone hates her.

The premise is interesting and is what got my interest in it to begin with when the anime was announced, reborn as a character in their favorite game, except they are the villain and know that all routes lead to doom. However, I did not know the rest once the anime aired that they try to change it, and every way possible something dumb happens and her bisexual harem grows. Honestly I just need, and I mean NEED more of this show. I really do, it is just stupid funny romance anime that I enjoy that I want to see get more of.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!

Dear Reader, I used to be just like you. I loved harem trash (not insulting you all but I admit what I like) I used to love each and everyone and debate best girl. But as I grew up through my twenties, they got boring. I’d much rather having an interesting shojo romance than a harem. But this is a jewel against all of the dull ones. One it’s a reverse harem and two and most important our MC is a completely adorable, endearing idiot. And in that stupidity or denseness really she makes the show far more interesting than your basic harem. We’ve got all of the tropes here but Katarina just throws the whole plot of the game that she was reborn into for a loop. She’s supposed to be a bitch to everyone? Nope she’s sweeter than sugar. She’s supposed to be a proper lady? Once again nope to her mother’s dismay. She goes through the story just being herself, trying in her own quirky way to avoid her death route but in doing so she’s made friends and suitors out of all male leads, the female rivals, and even the main heroine herself. Just like some of my favorite harems, My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! takes the formula and instead of just copy and pasting it with a little twist here and there, it makes its own path. And the best part is that it’s going to receive a second season so look forward to it.

So there you have it, our picks for the Spring season! As always be sure to let us know which shows you watched during that season and which ones you enjoyed the most.

Up next is the Summer 2020 season!

See you next week!
