It’s been a while since we last talked about Azur Lane, 3 months to be exact, but it’s finally back from its break and ready to bring things to their conclusion. Let’s jump in and take a look at ep 11.
I’ll be honest with you, I can’t really remember the details on what was happening last time in this show, I mean it’s been 3 months after all, so if this review isn’t too great that’s why. Also because I still don’t play the game so I’m probably missing a ton of small details that would make much more sense if I did play it.
So starting with what I do remember, Akagi was trying to being back Amagi via Project Orochi in an effort to be all powerful or something along those lines. While the rest of Sakura Empire was going along with the plan, not really knowing all the details Akagi had planned, a small group of Sakura Empire boats have decided enough is enough and they can’t keep following Akagi as she’s basically on Team Siren at this point.
On the flip side we have the Azur Lane forces as they ready themselves for the final battle against Akagi and the Sirens, not knowing at this time Amagi has been brought back from the dead but is really just the Orochi taking Amagi’s form. I gotta say it was nice to see the likes of Belfast, Enterprise and the rest of the Eagle Union and Royal Navy boats again. Sure I see art of that all the time, but seeing them animated and talking was nice to see again.
We also check in briefly with the Ironblood boats, namely Prinz Eugen, Z23, Z1, and Admiral Hipper, as they too discuss what their next move should be. Much like the boats on Sakura Empire, Ironblood has also been dragged into Akagi’s scheme and up until now they haven’t really been given the full story as to what the whole plan is, so now Prinz Eugen is wondering if they should continue to follow Sakura Empire or turn against them. I’ve mentioned it in previous reviews, but Ironblood is the least utilized group in this show. They’re just kind of present here and there but all they’re really seen doing is just tagging along with Sakura Empire and that’s about it. I was hoping as the show went on that we’d get to see more of them and where they stand in this whole conflict, but I guess that’s not really going to be the case now. Oh well. It was still nice to see the always sexy Prinz Eugen again, man she’s one hot boat.
The back half of the ep brings back the action as all the forces collide for the start of the final battle. In the middle of it all we have Orochi Amagi pulling the strings on Akagi and now Kaga as she’s got them all wrapped around her fingers as things reach the climatic final battle. We also have the few random Sirens who were introduced in previous eps, Observer, Purifier, and Tester, present in this battle too leading the charge on the Project Orochi front.
It looks like everyone will now team up, more or less, to fight the combined forces of Orochi Amagi, Akagi, Kaga, and the Sirens as we enter the final ep next week. I guess it’s been a while since all the boats were fighting the same enemy together, but maybe we’ll get some huge epic moment with them all fighting together, like something out of Avengers. Whatever the case, we’ll be back next week to see how this show wraps up.
So more or less there you have it, a quick look at ep 11 of Azur Lane. It’s nice to have this show back after the 3 month delay and the animation did look much better, so that’s a great sign. Next week is the final ep so I’ll be back to cover that probably on the weekend as I think I’m working next Friday, and in the final review I’ll include my closing thoughts along with a score.
In other Azur Lane news, I’m still waiting for someone to post BD volume 3 so I can take a look at the bath scene from ep 6 and see if it’s worth the wait. I still plan on having a post about that whenever it’s out, so keep and eye out for that post in the future. Until then we’ve got ep 12 to look forward to along with the 6th anniversary post on April1st. Hard to believe Anime Corps has been around for 6 years, but time certainly does fly.
As always feel free to leave any comments and such below and I’ll get back to you in a timely fashion.
Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next Saturday for the finale!
Take case and stay healthy!
