It took 7 eps but Hajime Owari has made her debut. How did that go?

Here’s my review!

Remember Hotaru? Nah, me neither. But instead we’ve got this new girl, Hajime Owari, to entertain us, and boy does she do just that. We first see her in ep 6 but it’s literally just at the end, right as the ep comes to a close, but from the little we learned about her in a conversation it’s that she’s a bit different and didn’t seem to fit in with the rest of the crew at the convenient store across the way.

For starters she’s pretty wild and silly. She talks with an accent (not sure what type) and her general mannerisms are very Hotaru like, so wild and slightly crazy. However, very much unlike Hotaru, she doesn’t know a ton about candy. So why did she show up at Coconuts’ store asking for a job? Well it turns out her stint over at the convenient store didn’t work out and she got fired. What’s more, she’s been evicted and has nowhere to stay. It just so happens though that Coconuts needs an extra person to watch the shop while he’s at work and seeing that Hajime already knows how to work in a similar type environment, she’ll be able to handle herself mostly well. But as I pointed out, she doesn’t know a whole lot about dagashi, so she can’t connect to the customers on a level that Coconuts can. Nevertheless, with a roof over her head and not jobless anymore, Hajime has been given a second shot at life and so far she’s looking like she’s going to make the most of it.

But of course things are about to take a turn for the worst as when Coconuts is leaving for school the next day, Hajime sees him off and says goodbye to him outside the shop… right in plain sight of Saya. Oh boy, here we go.

So not a whole lot to talk about this week, the main event was meeting Hajime and getting to know her. I’m liking her more than I imagined, so that’s a good sign. Honestly I was expecting her character to be annoying or something (I may have based that claim off promo art) but so far she’s proving to be very much not. She’s got that subtle Hotaru vibe to her, which is nice as that’s what Dagashi Kashi has been lacking the past 3 weeks, Hotaru and the signature Hotaru quirks she brings to the table. Whatever the case is with her though, I hope the purple haired dagashi loving girl makes a return as I do miss her. But in the meantime we’ve got Hajime to keep us company and if this ep is what we can expect from her, then I think we’ll be in good hands.

That’s pretty much it for this review. As always be sure to leave a comment down below if you have any thoughts on it, I’ll reply to each one as soon as I can.

Thanks for reading! I’ll see you next time!
