Things are leading up to a grand season 1 finale, but until we reach that point there are a few more small battles to go through.
Here’s my review!
This week we finally get to see some more of Irene Urzaiz after her introduction last week. Right off the bat it’s clear she’s someone who will pose a serious threat to Ayato and Julis, but I’ll get back to that in a bit. For starters this ep felt almost filler-ish as not much in the way of serious plot progressions happened. Sure we learn a few things here and there, but overall it was just a stepping stone to a much larger battle that will evidently happen in eps 11 & 12.
A detail worth noting is that Rimsy is actually Aldy’s limiter, meaning that Aldy has a lot more power to him that he’s showing now. Obviously this will be something to keep in mind going forward as that’s going to come into play when the eventual battle between Saya and Kirin happens. As much as I’d like to see Ayato and Julis take a crack at them, they’ve got Irene to deal with already, so I can’t see them being Aldy and Rimsy’s opponents.
So before we jump into Saya and Kirin’s battle, there is a quick scene outside with Irene and her sister, Priscilla that’s also worth noting. Julis and Ayato are en-route back to the stadium to watch Saya and Kirin fight, but they get caught up outside when they see Irene brawling with some students. Of course Irene notices Ayato from the files and is about to get up in his grill when Julis steps in to face her. Before things escalate anymore though, Priscilla comes out from the crowd and stops her sister. I wasn’t expecting Irene to have a sister as normal as Priscilla, but I guess all things considered I should’ve figured it would be something like that.
The middle half isn’t the most exciting; Saya and Kirin have a battle and win (no surprises there), we get a shower scene where Saya tries to grope Kirin’s massive boobs (also no surprise there), Ayato and Julis walk in on a naked Saya and Kirin (still no surprise there), then finally Ayato and Julis have a battle of their own. The team they fight are these two idol like students from Queenvail (that one place where they girl from the pool was from) named Non-Sugar. Terrible name but given the kind who attend that school, it seems fitting. Anyways, Julis makes quick work of the two idols, taking them down without breaking a sweat. Good work Julis!
After a homemade lunch from Julis and headpats for days by Ayato, the two settle in to watch Lester and Randy take on Irene and Priscilla. It’s actually a lengthy fight, considering how short all the other seem to be. Lester and Randy are all offensive in this fight, keeping clear of Irene’s gravity scythe that really does a number on its enemies along with its user. Randy gets a first hand display of its power as he’s slammed to the floor and rendered unconscious in a few moments. While Lester puts up a better fight than his lacky does, in the end he still is gets taken down by Irene and her powerful weapon.
A key point of this battle though is the fact that Irene is a vampire. Yep, in order to support her weapon, she drinks the blood from his sister by biting her in the neck as one would expect. This was something I actually didn’t see coming as I was expecting Priscilla to be more of the conventional type support person for Irene. Being a blood donor wasn’t what I had in mind. But whatever the case is, cue the ending music and credits as this ep is over.
So like I said at the outset, this ep felt slightly fillier-ish to me as nothing huge happened. I was expecting more conspiracy/mystery about the Phoenix Festa, possibly some secret hidden agenda and such, but so far that hasn’t happened. We’ve got 2 more eps left though so maybe something like that will happen still. But anyways though, this was an okay ep, nothing amazing yet nothing horrible.

That’s it for me, thanks for reading and I’ll cya in the ep 11 review!
P.S. Thanks for the title, Joe.
