The battle to save the Tokyo Area has begun, but it’s not going as planned.
Also, Rentaro has a run in with a familiar foe.
Here’s my review!
Monolith 32 has fallen and war has begun. It’s hell out there as all the Gastrea advance on the troops, slaughtering them as they move along. Rentaro and gang are up on top of a hill watching the battle start and notice a small group of Gastrea trying to flank them troops from the side. Breaking formation Rentaro leads the team over to the flanking Gastrea and eliminates them before they become a bigger threat. There is also this other big weapon the Gastrea are using known as the Spear of Light that is fucking shit up for the troops. Rentaro watches as people fall to this, unable to save them.
Before things get any crazier though, the Gastrea suddenly pull back leaving the troops confused. With a break in the action, the clean up begins. Enju and Kisara are in the medical area helping tend to the wounded as Rentaro and Tamaki are out cleaning up on the battlefield, pondering over why the Gastrea suddenly left the battle they were clearly winning. Once finished cleaning up in the battlefield Rentaro meets up with Kisara and Enju at the medical area before they head off for the night to their place they’re staying at, which is an old abandoned building. There we see a cute Tina in an apron cleaning up things to make their stay a more enjoyable one. Aww, that’s sweet of her.
Later on a dinner, they’re visited by one of the commanding officers who informs them Rentaro has been summoned to see the main guy in charge, Gadou Nagamasa, about something. Turns out no good deed goes unpunished; even though they saved the troops by leaving their position to stop the flanking Gastrea, Rentaro disobeyed orders and people died because of that. Really though Gadou is being a dick as it’s pretty obvious that had the flanking Gastrea not been stopped, many more people would’ve died because of that. Seriously, are all commanding officers in anime such fucking douche bags all the time?
So Gadou tells Rentaro that unless he goes on this crazy suicide mission to take out the operator of the Spear of Light, his team is being disbanded and will not be allowed to fight. Seriously, what a dick. With no other option, Rentaro has to accept the terms and go on this mission. It’s also brought out that the big ass Gastrea, Aldebaran, actually can’t be killed unless a Stage Four Gastrea named Pleiades is killed first. So the mission Rentaro has is to go find and kill Pleiades. Easier said than done though.
While out in the forest on his way to find Pleiades, Rentaro is attacked by wolf like Gastrea who chase him and injure his shoulder in the process. With death looming him in the face, the Gastrea are suddenly killed. Walking out of the forest, chuckling to himself the whole way, is none other than Kagetane Hiruko and Kohina Hiruko. I’d just like to say that for one second I never actually thought Kagetane was dead. Honestly when a bad guy falls into the water like that during a battle, and the body is never found, it’s so obvious that he’s still alive. I wonder why more people don’t realize this as it happens in so many movies and TV shows.
Even though Kagetane saved Rentaro, he still doesn’t trust him as the last time the two didn’t really hit it off the right way. I liked the banter between them over the camp fire dinner, that was actually surprisingly funny. Kagetane also tells Rentaro that the two will be joining forces soon, like it or not. The following day his words come true as the route Rentaro has to take to find Pleiades just happens to be the same one Kagetane has to take. Now teaming up with the guy he’s been trying to kill since ep 1, how will things go for Rentaro?
While this was a pretty action heavy ep, it wasn’t action heavy enough. I wanted there to just be a large scale battle with the humans fighting the Gastrea, but that bit only lasted a few minutes before they moved on to other things. It seems like that can’t just stick with the action for that long before breaking off to deal with something else. Anyways Black Bullet is closing in on the finale too, only 2 eps remaining now, so I hope they’ll really ramp up the action as things close in. Any predictions about how it’s going to turn out? Who will live and who dies? I’d like to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
Alright then, let’s take a look at some screen shots from the ep now!
So there you have it, another Black Bullet review. Honestly I’m not really liking this one as much anymore, it’s just overall meh, I’ll be happy once it’s over. Up next I’m not sure what I’ll have as I’m a bit backed up with reviews for Date A Live II ep 10 (which is the finale ep) and Love Live ep 11. I hope to get both out soon but as tomorrow is Wednesday, I’ll have to work on the No Game No Life review too. Since this week a few anime are ending, I’ll have more time to work on reviews for things such as WIXOSS, so hopefully I’ll be able to get those reviews out soon. I probably won’t be having pics with the WIXOSS reviews, maybe like one or two, but overall those reviews will be lots of text. I’ll keep things updated via Twitter about how I’ll be proceeding with my reviews.
Here’s what we can expect to see next Tuesday.
