Anime-kurumi-Kantoku-713842
Pic of the truly lovely Kurumi by the amazingly talented Kantoku

I’ve wanted to do a post like this for a while actually, kinda one of the things I was really looking forward to doing with my anime blog. Let’s jump right in now. Be sure to get some headphones as I’ll have plenty of videos for you to watch.

I’ll start with the OP’s first and list my top 5 from 5 thru 1. I’ll try to get a video for each, but some might have been taken down by copyright violations. I’ll try my best though. Keep in mind this isn’t a review of the OP/ED, just me talking about why I like them.

*Watch all the videos in HD too for the best experience!

Top Spring Anime OP’s

#5: Captain Earth (Believers High by flumpool)

I’m really enjoying this anime more and more each week. I’m really glad that it’s going for a full 25 episodes as I’m sure it’ll be able to carry through to the end. Normally I’m not into mech anime that much but this one is very enjoyable and the OP is very awesome too. Even though I’ve got it at #5 here, I still really love it a lot more so.

#4: Selector Infected WIXOSS (killy killy JOKER by Kanon Wakeshima)

As I’m super hyped up on WIXOSS right now, I had to have this one in here. At first I wasn’t really into this song that much, but the more I watched and started to become sucked into this anime, the more I loved the OP. And since I’m talking about WIXOSS, this is a must watch this season, check it out for sure and read my reviews for it too!

#3: Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (Rising Hope by LiSA)

(subs in another language, but it’s all I could find)

I’m sure we ALL remember LiSA ever since she sung the OP for the most hyped anime of 2012, Sword Art Online. Honestly when I first heard ‘Rising Hope’, I didn’t like it one bit. My initial thoughts were “this is like a cut and paste SAO OP pretty much” and while that still crosses my mind when I hear it, I’m not as bitter about it anymore. It’s a pretty badass song and I enjoy it a lot more when I hear it.

#2: Gokukoku no Brynhildr (“BRYNHILDR IN THE DARKNESS -Ver. EJECTED-” by Nao Tokisawa)

When I first heard this one I was sitting waiting for the lyrics to kick in at some point, but when they never did I was like “oh, okay that’s fine, this is badass enough”. Probably the only dubstep style anime OP I’ve ever heard before, but damn is it awesome. Since I’m always dicking around with my sound settings for when I watch anime and listen to music, I didn’t catch the bass in the OP at first, but when I heard it I was totally loving it so much more. This shit is nice.

#1: Love Live! School Idol Project S2 (Sore wa Bokutachi no Kiseki (That Is Our Miracle) by μ’s)

Of course this best OP of the season is from arguably the best anime this season, Love Live. Seriously this OP is so awesome! When I first heard it I knew I’d love it to death and that’s exactly what happened. Yeah I’m super bias because Love Live is one of my all time favorite anime (yes I love it that much) but DAMN THIS SONG IS SO AWESOME!!

Honorable Mentions

 No Game, No Life

Just falling short of the top 5 as well, NGNL has a really good OP, I’ll give it that. It’s taken a while but I’m enjoying this anime a lot as well. It’s just bright visuals, funny story, likable characters and I really like characters that Yukari Tamura does the voice for. If you’re not watching this one then be sure to check it out and read my reviews for it too!

One Week Friends

This anime will break your heart but as you’ll be caring so much about the cute and adorable Kaori Fujimiya and her trials she has to go through. The OP and ED for this anime are so amazing and it’s impossible to not love them. While they also come a bit shot of my top 5, I had to have them in here at some point.

Top Spring Anime ED’s

#5: Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? (Poppin Jump♪ by Chimame-tai)

Yes this loli cafe anime gets a mention in here. I do like the OP a lot too, but I like the ED maybe just a bit more. It’s cute and fluffy and something you expect from a cute girls doing cute things anime.

#4: Captain Earth (Amethyst by HANA star)

Another mention for Captain Earth. I like this ED as much as I like the OP, so that means a lot. While the full version isn’t out until mid June (I’m pretty sure) I’ll have to make do with the TV sized version until then.

#3: Gokukoku no Brynhildr (Ichiban Boshi by female VA’s)

From the first time I heard this one I really enjoyed it a lot. It’s a nice tune and it works to calm things down after a wild ep. The full version was on the OST instead of being released as a single, so be sure to download the OST if you want to hear the full version.

#2: Love Live! School Idol Project S2 (Donna Toki mo Zutto by μ’s)

(sorry I couldn’t find a video for this one, they’ve all been taken down 😦 )

While I like the season 1 ED a lot more, I’ve gotta have Love Live on here at some point. It’s still a really good song and I enjoy it a lot, just not as much as the season 1 ED though. Hopefully there will be a Maki solo version like the first season ED released in the Solo Live! Collection Memorial BOX II. By the way if you haven’t downloaded that one, be sure to. I’ve got the Maki album and it’s so amazing!

#1: Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (Millenario by ELISA)

Taking first place is the Mahouka ED by ELISA. Since hearing this one in the 3PV (it’s since been taken down) I really liked what I heard. I like the calm nature of this song and it really flows well after watching an ep of this. I’m hoping ELISA will sing the ED2 for the back half of this anime, but we’ll have to wait and see I guess.

And there you have it, my picks for the season. I’d like to hear what you’ve got for top OP/ED this season, leave a comment with your top 5.

A small update now: the sub group FFF (I watch Love Live and Date A Live II from them) have said they’ll be delayed for the next few weeks as their staff are studying for/writing exams, this obviously will impact my reviews for both anime. I’ll be probably be delayed with posting those reviews for the next while but I’ll still get them up at some point. Right now I’m waiting on them for Date A Live II ep 7 to be posted (where Kurumi returns I hear) and once it’s out I’ll get my review for it posted as soon as I can. As for Love Live ep 8, I’ll have that review out up next so if you’re staying up late you can be among the first to read it.

Next up is the summer season of anime; I’ve been looking through the chart at anime coming up and I’ve kinda got an idea of what I want to review. Obviously I won’t make any final calls here, but some early choices are: Sword Art Online II, Aldnoah.Zero, Glasslip, Rail Wars!, and maybe either Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [Locodol] Yatte Mita., or Hanayamata. Keep in mind I’ll be continuing my Mahouka reviews as it’s going to 26 eps so I want to pick up probably only 6 anime to review. Like I said in some recent tweet, 7 anime is about the max I can handle. I’ll make the final choices as the season approaches but that’s kinda what I’m thinking right now in terms of reviews. If you’re groaning at the fact I’ll be reviewing SAO2, I understand; I’m pretty much only reviewing it because it’s the big anime of the summer and one everyone will be talking about. While I don’t personally hate it with extreme prejudice, I don’t hail it as the best anime ever either. My rating on MAL might not agree with everyone, but most of that score is for Asuna and Suguha (wincest FTW) anyways.

Last thing now: over the course of the week I’ll be doing work on my blog, mainly changing up all the pages (basically updating them) and they’ll have new stuff on them. If you drop by any of the pages listed at the top and find them blank or not even there at all, that’ll be why.

Alright then I’m finished here! Thanks for reading and I’ll cya in the next post!
